Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment specifically designed to permanently eliminate submental fat — more commonly known as a double chin.

How It Works

Kybella’s active ingredient is deoxycholic acid which is a molecule present in the gallbladder to help break down dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells on contact which the body then clears over the following weeks. 

What It Treats

Kybella is FDA-approved for reduction of the double chin and also used off-label for bra rolls, jowl fat, and other small pockets of excess fat on the face and body.

What to Expect

Expect a few days of swelling, redness, and possible bruising and mild numbness.  Topical numbing and ice make the injection process comfortable and most patients typically require one to three sessions four to six weeks apart.  Full results are visible within four to six weeks of the final treatment.
