Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses the body’s own healing biology to build healthier, firmer, more radiant skin. It’s effective across a wide range of concerns and suitable for all skin types.
A device equipped with fine, sterile needles creates thousands of tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These channels are too small to cause lasting damage but large enough to activate the skin’s full wound-healing response: growth factors flood the area, fibroblasts are activated, new collagen and elastin are laid down, and cellular turnover accelerates. The skin rebuilds itself from the inside out.
Microneedling is highly effective for improving skin texture and tone, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, minimizing acne and other scarring, shrinking enlarged pores, addressing hyperpigmentation and sun damage, and improving overall skin radiance. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, and body.
A topical numbing cream is applied 20–30 minutes before treatment. The procedure itself takes about 20–30 minutes. Most patients feel mild prickling which is well tolerated with topical numbing. The skin is red and warm immediately after but, typically settles within 24–48 hours. Mild peeling or dryness possible in the days that follow but most patients are fully healed within 3-5 days.
The microchannels caused dramatically increase the skin’s permeability and this allows the application off topical serums and growth factors. These factors penetrate deep into the dermis which is why we frequently combine microneedling with PRP or Ariessence PDGF+. The combination amplifies the regenerative response and accelerates healing in a way that either treatment alone simply can’t match.
Results are gradual and cumulative. Some improvement in glow and texture is visible within a week, but deeper collagen remodeling continues for months. We typically recommend a series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by quarterly or semi-annual maintenance treatments.
Standard microneedling is excellent for skin quality and texture. RF microneedling — like Morpheus8 or Scarlet RF — adds radiofrequency heat energy for significantly more skin tightening, tissue lifting, and structural improvement. Think of RF microneedling as the upgrade for patients who want laxity addressed alongside texture and radiance.
